Howdy, Cuz! I'm one of those malcontents that Intrudn warned you about!!!
Great bike, no worries. My suggestions (after, of course, my enthusiastic concurrence with the evil and often off the beaten path Intrudn):
1- Get a shop manual (or a Clymer manual- which is like a "Chilton's" or "Haynes" manual for a car) and start doing the regular services. No teacher like experience.
2- Get a couple extra 20 amp fuses and throw em in the tool bag.
3- Get a spare plug for good measure and put it in there too.
4- Learn how to take off and put on the gas tank- you'll need that skill almost everytime you do even the slightest bit of maintenance.
5- Last, and ABSOLUTELY not least, BOOKMARK THIS SITE. When you've got a question, read-up for answers or just post the question, you're sure to get a veritable plethora of answers, and some may even be serious.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Good folks here. Welcome aboard!
